We opened the Glenroyd House community café in 2025 to create a welcoming, affordable and accessible place where local people can meet, eat and feel connected. Many people in our community experience loneliness, financial hardship or difficulty accessing support. The café provides a friendly space where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances.

The café offers affordable food and refreshments, helping individuals and families manage rising living costs. It also provides opportunities for conversation, friendship and support, helping to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.

As well as meeting a clear community need, the café helps generate income to support the running of the centre. The costs of maintaining a large building are increasing, including energy bills, repairs, insurance and general maintenance. Income from the café helps us continue providing free or low-cost activities and support for local people.

The café is also a place where volunteers can gain confidence, skills and experience. By combining community benefit with fundraising, the café helps Glenroyd House remain open, sustainable and at the heart of local life.
